Tech Lab Jiu Jitsu
Tech Lab Jiu Jitsu is proudly located in beautiful Marin County, just 40 minutes north of San Francisco, in the heart of Novato at the San Marin Plaza off San Marin Drive. We are a family-owned and operated academy dedicated to providing high-quality Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and self-defense training for both kids and adults.
Our mission is to create a safe, structured, and supportive environment where students of all ages can build confidence, discipline, and real-world skills through Jiu Jitsu. Whether you’re enrolling your child in their first martial arts class or stepping onto the mats yourself, our coaching team is committed to helping every student grow at their own pace.
At Tech Lab Jiu Jitsu, we hold the highest standards for student safety, gym cleanliness, and technical instruction. Our facility is equipped with FUJI Subfloor SuperBlock mats, designed to provide superior comfort and impact absorption, helping reduce strain from throws, takedowns, and falls.
We welcome new students with a one-week free trial, and loaner gis are available so you can start training right away. Tech Lab Jiu Jitsu is more than a gym — it’s a community built on respect, consistency, and a love for the art of Jiu Jitsu.
What is Jiu jitsu
The Gentle Art, as it is often described, is a non-striking martial art that utilizes grips and leverage to unbalance your opponent and ultimately achieve a submission, or "the tap". A typical class is divided into two parts: technique and drilling, followed up with live sparring. Both are invaluable to learn and retain proper technique, while developing sensitivity and timing through live sparring.
Tech Lab Jiu Jitsu is the product of many years of an open-minded, creative approach to Jiu Jitsu that blends strong fundamentals with new-school technique. The techniques taught here are competition tested and proven effective, a benefit of learning from active competitors.
We offer world class Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and self defense instruction to kids, teens and adults of all levels, in a friendly, clean and comfortable environment. Our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program is open to ages 5 and up and all skill levels.
What to expect
At Tech Lab Jiu Jitsu, student safety is our top priority. All classes are led by experienced instructors, with instructor assistants present to ensure close supervision and individual attention at all times.
We maintain a clean and safe training environment by sanitizing our mats daily. We ask all students to arrive prepared with a clean gi, trimmed nails, a water bottle, and a positive attitude. These standards help create a respectful and focused space where everyone can learn and grow.
Our program emphasizes structure, discipline, and high-quality jiu jitsu instruction, while still keeping classes fun and engaging. Students will learn proper technique, self-defense skills, and mat etiquette in a supportive and encouraging environment.
